Compost Hakerem
The project involves turning organic garbage into high quality compost, called Humus, in an ecological process using red worms; it is the first time this method was implemented in Israel. Since joining the IVN Social Entrepreneur Fellowship Program in 2004, Compost Hakerem has become a huge success. It has collected more than 3,500 tons of organic waste from more than 6,000 families and the numbers continue to grow. The project promotes environmental responsibility through active citizenship.
Today Compost Hakerem sustains itself from revenues derived from the services it renders to the local municipalities as well as from the sale of the compost it produces.

Movement for Israeli Urbanism (MIU)
The vast majority of Israelis live in urban cities and towns. Israel is plagued by neglected city centers, unnecessary sprawl, planning that leads to economic and social polarization, wasted resources and environmental deterioration.
In order to improve the quality of living in Israel, while contributing to the efforts of global sustainability, MIU promotes quality urban living based on compact, quality and sustainable urban environments. MIU views the city as the key mechanism that provides people the opportunities to fulfill their inherent potential.
Since MIU joined the IVN Social Entrepreneur Fellowship Program in 2005, they have planned and implemented 7 key projects that impact the quality of life in Israel’s communities daily.

The Israely Energy Forum
The global energy problem is being tackled head on in Israel by this project. The Forum’s vision is to build a framework for planning the future of Israel’s energy supply and consumption and it initiates public discussion, urging policy-makers to push forward sustainable solutions to Israel’s energy needs. The Forum also aims to develop the first sustainable energy plan for Israel, advocate its adoption and enable its implementation. The Israel Energy Forum joined the IVN Social Entrepreneur Fellowship Program in 2008.
Since the Forum’s establishment and its tireless efforts, the government budget for energy efficiency in 2011 was set at NIS 157,000,000 – 25 times greater than the 2009 budget.
