Retirement - The Window of Opportunity

This innovative venture continues to create valued occupational opportunities for the elderly through the establishment of a vocational center. The areas of occupation in the center are: handicraft manufacturing (SAVI), handicraft workshops, a retail outlet, a treatment center, and handicraft stalls.

Women Embroidering "Adanet" (Together)
The venture was established with the intention of integrating unemployed Jewish Ethiopian women into the Israeli society and economy. What started as a social gathering now consists of tens of Ethiopian women living in Beer Sheva embroidering chala and matza covers, table cloths, mezuzah cases, place mats and much more, all with their traditional designs. They work from home and meet once a week with guides who help them with design, manufacturing, marketing and sales.
Since Women Embroidering “Andanet” joined the IVN Social Entrepreneur Fellowship Program in 2008, more than 30 Ethiopian women are now part of the group and the sales are rising annually.
