Gvanim

Gvanim Association is an organization for social change with more than 40 active projects and programs for disadvantaged populations throughout Israel. Within the framework of IVN’s social venture program, we are supporting two of these projects: a coffee shop and event center in Ashkelon that employs adults with mental illness and a catering business in Sderot that employs people with physical disabilities. These jobs are changing people’s lives and restoring their sense of self-worth, as well as affecting the families and communities in which they live. Our goal in this project is to create a firm model for such a social business structure so that it can be duplicated in other places in Israel.

Al Bir (The Well)

Cultivating culture and community in Wadi Ara, Al-Bir seeks to create an environment that nurtures, encourages and provides a platform for the voices and activities of Palestinian women in Israel. By doing so, they intend to broaden the spectrum of activity and influence of women within the community and the society at large, both socially and culturally. Al-Bir, run by women for women, began as a small group of volunteers in 2003 and has since established a cultural community center at the entrance to the town of Arara in which courses, workshops, movie screenings and exhibitions are held in order to further their goals of female empowerment and involvement. To date, through their workshops, they are reaching 1,000 women and children a year.

NPTech

NPTech, Non Profit Technology, promotes transparency, efficiency and effectiveness in Israel’s nonprofit sector through the use of modern technologies. It has already developed Israel’s first official and complete database containing more than 30,000 registered Israeli nonprofits: GuideStar Israel. But in the digital age web presence isn’t enough. So much of life is conducted virtually and computer technology is key to getting results. Those nonprofits that do not or cannot operate in a digital arena will be left behind – and so will their missions upon which so much depends. NPTech has therefore set itself the task of delivering modern technologies to the Israeli nonprofit sector, as a social enterprise.
