About IVN

About

Established in 2001, the Israel Venture Network (IVN) is a venture philanthropy network of high-tech entrepreneurs, business executives, venture capitalists, corporations and philanthropists from Israel and the US.

IVN's Mission

The Israel Venture Network, a social investment organization, strives to bridge social gaps and generate systemic change in Israel through high-impact programs and hands-on venture philanthropy.

Our Approach

By marrying business acumen & financing with high-impact social programs, we work towards the betterment of Israel’s social landscape. Our business acumen is derived from our membership - a network of dedicated business entrepreneurs and executives in Israel and the United States. IVN advances social change in three strategic realms: economic development, environment and education of underserved populations and regions.

IVN’s key strength has always been our member's record of achievement in the business arena and our ability to identify social gaps and appropriate vehicles of change, as well as the optimal partners to reduce those gaps. By nurturing, developing and strengthening innovative pilots and programs, whether homegrown or pre-existing, IVN has enabled many of them to blossom, expand, replicate, and reach a point of sustained and scaled social impact, allowing IVN to move on to new ideas .

 Our Track Record

Program Impact & Exit

Education Initiative/Municipal Intervention in partnership with UIAC and local municipalities Successful projects raising student achievement, while advancing management capabilities within the education system in Tiberias, Kiryat Shmona, Sderot, Ofakim.

IsraCorps in partnership with the Rashi Foundation  IsraCorps, a program strengthening Israeli society through instilling volunteerism as a tool for empowerment and as a greenhouse for nurturing the next generation of social leaders, is now an established independent organization involving over 1,000 youths who through volunteering benefit communities nationwide.

Social Entrepreneur Fellowship Program in partnership with New Israel Fund, Rashi Foundation & Green Environment Fund  IVN’s SE program supported and incubated Social Entrepreneurs dedicated to developing and implementing innovative and sustainable social/economic solutions in Israel. Of our close to 20 social entrepreneurs, IVN has supported a large number dedicated to generating employment opportunities, education and the environment. Our current Social Venture Program is the next generation of this highly successful program.

Principals Training Course in partnership with Yad Hanadiv Foundation and Viterbi Family Foundation  In the belief that school principals are the primary change agents, IVN in partnership with the Yad Hanadiv Foundation, initiated, developed and ran a successful pilot. The ambitious two-year pilot program gave participants the methodologies and management tools necessary for their daily responsibilities.  Due to its amazing success, the Ministry of Education and Yad Hanadiv took ownership and hence, the Israel Institute for School Leadership (ISL, a.k.a. Avnei Rosha) was established, which now serves as the central professional authority in the field of school leadership and management, in accordance with the policy of the Ministry of Education, and as the professional “home” of school principals in Israel.

IVN's Economic Reconstruction Initiative (IERI), following the Second Lebanon War in partnership with Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor  IERI was established to stimulate business growth in Israel’s northern periphery, involving more than 200 businesses employing over 4000 people, through a scalable model of consultancy, mentoring and monetary loans together with local MATI’s (Small Business Development Centers). Due to its success, IERI was adapted and adopted by the Ministry of Industry, Trade & Labor and by Tzafona/Daroma, a business development loan fund spearheaded by Eitan Werthheimer.

Expansion of Economic Reconstruction Initiative to the South in partnership with the  Jewish Federation of Central New Jersey and the Ness Fund  Due to the success in the north, the IERI model was expanded to the south and involves more than 30 businesses employing over 1000 people. The project is ongoing. Due to its success Daroma adopted the model and is scaling it in the south.

Social Venture Program  IVN's Social Venture Program, the next generation of our highly successful Social Entrepreneur Fellowship Program and IVN's Economic Reconstruction Initiative (IERI), is a model of selection, mentoring, capacity building and financial support of high-potential ventures. This 2-year program enables social ventures to become self-sustaining and transform into income generating, social enterprises.
