Established in 2002, the Israel Venture
Network (IVN) is a venture philanthropy network of high-tech
entrepreneurs, business executives, venture capitalists,
corporations and philanthropists from Israel and the US. IVN
aims to strengthen the capacity of the educational, social
leadership and business communities in Israel through the
sharing of skills, knowledge and experience that have led to
private sector success.
"Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day.
Teach him how to fish and he will eat for a lifetime."
- Old
Chinese Proverb
In the last fifteen years, Israel has been
dramatically altered by the ambition, creativity and innovation
of the high-tech sector. However, Israeli society faces serious
challenges in ensuring that the benefits of the new economy are
available to all. The immense disparity between rich and poor
reinforces ethnic and religious tensions, jeopardizes potential
for future economic growth and threatens the democratic
principles on which Israel was founded.
IVN currently invests in three areas of
intervention and encourages synergy among them:
- Strengthening the Education System
- Investing in Social Leadership
- Stimulating Economic Development

Why IVN is Unique
-
One of the unique facets of IVN is
that it provides a platform that enables its members to become
actively engaged in the programs that it operates. IVN members
are involved "hands on" in the individual initiatives and
contribute their management expertise and experience in the
implementation through our Mentorship program.
-
IVN is committed to the integration of
measurement & evaluation (M&E) in all of its strategic
initiatives. This commitment is based on the premise that M&E
are crucial for effective management and that improvement
cannot be tracked or proven without it.
-
As a venture philanthropy, IVN is in the
advantageous position of being able to take more innovative
approaches and apply cutting edge models and methods and when
introducing pilot programs. Based on the determined success of
the programs, IVN is in the position to expand them, together
with strategic partners, i.e. the government.
-
IVN takes the position that chances of
success are greatly increased through strategic partnerships.
Over the last five years, IVN has worked very hard on
developing relationships with local and national government
entities, as well as with other NGO's and business entities,
in the belief that only through close collaboration can
sustainable change be achieved. This conviction has born fruit
in all three of IVN's clusters.
-
Due to the very nature of IVN's membership
base, the organization also brings to the table a wide network
of business contacts that are made available to programs we
support; specifically the economic and social initiatives.
-
We have begun to track significant changes
in the areas where we intervene and believe that our valuable
and unique skill set provides an important contribution to the
non-profit sector in Israel.
